HopeOneSource (H1S) is a text message based platform operated by Hope With Love, 501c3, that leverages the power of volunteers and web technology to connect people and services with dignity, security, and ease. H1S provides the most up-to-date accurate information on people and services in the communities we serve. We connect people and services with streamlined outreach, data collection, insights, and reporting.

By assisting service providers with more effectively and efficiently connecting their services with a great experience, we’re able to help more of our most vulnerable neighbors experiencing poverty and oppression more rapidly stabilize their situation.
Why does HopeOneSource keep contacting me?
Dedicated volunteers frequently contact those in the communities HopeOneSource supports to ensure the most accurate information is available to improve the experience of accessing services. Frequently verifying people and services help us advance HopeOneSource's mission.
How do people experiencing poverty and oppression sign-up for HopeOneSource?
There are three easy ways to register people within the communities we serve: 1.) Service providers who partner receive support with our social impact technology. 2.) Vulnerable community members can self register by texting HOPE to 51523. 3.) Volunteers help vulnerable neighbors connect on any text or web enabled device. People registered always have the choice to opt-out or change their preferences to receive real-time text alerts from nearby verified service providers.
How do service providers with verified free or discounted non-profit services use HopeOneSource?
Verified service providers who partner with HopeOneSource are able to create and send targeted 150-character-or-less messages about their services. These messages often include the essential information — the what, where, when, who and how — that people need to access the service. It may also identify unmet needs, wellness checks, request an RSVP, provide a reminder, and more. Automatic insights and reports are provided.
1.) Non-government agencies, like Dreamers and Achievers in Washington, DC are using HopeOneSource to save time and increase their funding with real-time outreach, data collection, insights, and reporting. 2.) Government agencies, like the Department of Human Services in Washington, DC are using HopeOneSource to send real-time emergency alerts to their communities’ most vulnerable residents when emergency situations, like extreme cold or extreme heat, occur. Since DC Government began using HopeOneSource to send hypothermia alerts in 2015, the District has seen an 80% decrease in hypothermia deaths.
Tell me more about HopeOneSource in Washington, DC.
With the support of the DC Interagency Council on Homelessness, HopeOneSource began its pilot in the nation’s capital in the fall of 2015, serving only a few dozen DC residents experiencing homelessness with messages from a handful of local service providers. As of 2022, HopeOneSource is in five communities with a reach of nearly 40,000 vulnerable community members -- connecting them in real-time to thousands of verified housing, career, and social services with dignity, security, and ease.
DC Government continues to use HopeOneSource to send out emergency alerts to its residents. Through testimonies along with evidence based qualitative and quantitative surveys and focus groups, HopeOneSource is constantly learning of its impact. This includes having helped hundreds of service providers connect, and thousands of vulnerable community members stabilize their situation. Does HopeOneSource work in areas other than DC?
Yes! HopeOneSource is based in the Washington, D.C. metro, where we serve the local community and others -- as we continue to sustain and scale our impact.
Do you only aim to help people that are experiencing homelessness?
No! We help any vulnerable neighbors that can benefit from connecting to services in their area. However, we do prioritize supporting those most vulnerable when limits.
Is HopeOneSource HIPAA-compliant?
Our system is HIPAA-compliant as all sensitive data is encrypted in transmission and at rest. We use Amazon Web Services, an enterprise solution used by major organizations, to store data securely. Furthermore, partnering service providers get to manage who can access their organization's data for added control and security.
